Thank you to everyone for being brave and auditioning! Casting is the weirdest thing I ever have to do in theatre. It is also the most critical action of any director so thank you for your patience. I have enjoyed my sleepness nights of puzzling this cast together. Know there is great intentionality involved in every decision made. I would love to have used everyone who showed up, but that is not how this crazy process works.
If you auditioned and do not find yourself on the list, please do not take it personally. I have a very specific vision and it is simply a matter of fitting folks into that. I encourage you to continue pursuing involvement in theatre! Just because you didn’t shake out into this mix doesn’t mean you won’t be perfect for the next show to come along! J Meta has a summer camp and workshops designed to help everyone continue developing skills as a performing artist. It’s good to be prepared for anything. Again, thank you for your courage and sharing your talent with the panel.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THOSE CAST:
If you are unable to accept the role for any reason, please call me before Tuesday at 360.540.0091 or email metagodspell@gmail.com so we can make appropriate fixations to the cast.
Your presence at the read-thru on Tuesday, February 7 is required. It is where we auditioned. Be there at 6:00 pm. I can’t wait to share my vision for the show with you. It won’t be like any version I have ever seen or heard of in the theatre world so you’re a part of something very unique.
Godspell is about community and is very much an ensemble piece. I’ve added 3 disciples and created a chorus. This said, anticipate the designated characters’ lines and lyric assignments to scramble as I reassign and disperse them to include the roles I’ve created. It’s an effort to get y’all spotlight moments.
Those under the age of 18 need to bring a parent/guardian to the read-thru.
We have information to pass on regarding your participation and our expectations of you and your actor.
The show will be family friendly, but it usually isn’t done with children. Everyone cast will be featured one way or another, but we need you to be on board with the nature and content of the show.
Meta is multicultural, educational theatre and the culture we are respectfully exploring this time is Christianity--straight out of the Gospel of Matthew. This will be a critical element of developing the casts’ characters. Welcome to the edge. J
Adults cast should consider themselves mentors and role model of character and best practice in theatre.
Children cast should show the adults up.
